The Patton's at the Great Wall

Can't believe the Patton's are in China.  We're doing fine.  Yesterday we saw the Great Wall and took a bicycle rickshaw ride through old Beijing.  It was hot (over 100) but it was an amazing day.  I'm trying to upload video but am having trouble. We love you.

Hi All-The Patton's have arrived in China.  We're all doing well.  Yesterday we went to the Great Wall and took bicycle rides on rickshaws through old Beijing.  The Great Wall was incredible.  It was quite hot (104 degrees) and some of the steps were quite high (like above my knee). It's amazing this was built such a long time ago. It kind of looks like a snake throught the mountains.  We are having an amazing time.  The other families in our group are so nice.  Today we're going to see the Forbidden City.  We're leaving tomorrow for Ava!!  We can't wait!!
Love you,
Kathy

the night before departure

a couple of thoughts...
a girl child! pink stuff in my house! toys without big, scary teeth! --- it's all so new-- so wonderful!

ava can't speak a lick of english; i can't speak a lick of chinese. i figure we're on equal ground.

i don't have to clean, cook, or drive for 3 weeks.. .

A New Era!!!

Hey! Fess here! i don't know how to feel now that Ava is coming. sometimes i'm afraid of growing into an adult/late teen. i look @ the disney people, and they are 17-25 now. they changed a lot these days! well, that's why i'm afraid of "evolving." Ava is going to help me get over that, even though i'm 10 years older than her. this might be the 1st time i actually feel "Old." but i can say now, and forever that i'll always love her, and protect her from anything. hope you all love her 2! luv ya all!

Last Day

Hi All!  I really want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers.  It's wonderful to feel your support.  I can't believe it's almost here.  We're packed and just have a few things left to do before we go.  Frank's been great-helping me to keep calm.  Ava's room is ready.  My feelings are all over the place.  Anyway, another adoptive mom gave me something to think about with regard to the trip.  We "don't have to drive, cook or clean for the entire trip."  We "just focus on family things."  I love that.  What an experience we're about to have.  Next time I post, it'll be from China!!
